March 24, 2016

Hi Everyone,

This year's Strawberry Festival Parade is coming up in just over a month. The parade will be held on Thursday May 5th. With this in mind, it will become necessary to begin holding mandatory after school rehearsals for those students who plan on performing at the parade. The rehearsals will begin during the first full week of April. The weekly schedule is listed below.

In order to perform in the parade:

* A student must attend all scheduled after-school rehearsals. Each student will be allowed only two excused absences (requiring a note from a parent).

* A student must have no office referrals for bad behavior in band or in any other class between April 1st and the day of the parade.

* A student must purchase a Band T-Shirt to be worn at the parade (more details to come).

* A student must pass a music memorization test and a marching test that will be administered during the third week of April. Because this parade is a competition, every band student will not be selected to participate this year. Participating students must show their ability to perform at a suitable level by passing these tests on an individual basis. However, every band student will be allowed to participate in the various spring concerts.

WEEKLY AFTER SCHOOL SCHEDULE

Mondays:

All Brass and Woodwind Students

Tuesdays:

All Color Guard

Wednesdays:

All Percussion

Thursdays:

Full Band and Color Guard

Please understand that on Thursdays we will have a very large number of students, and it is essential that you follow proper procedures for entering and exiting rehearsals and that you exhibit proper behavior during rehearsals. No distractions will not be tolerated. This is for your own good and safety. Ms. Turner and a couple of other teachers will be at these rehearsals to assist. I look forward to this year's parade. Let's work hard and bring home another trophy!

See you soon!

Mr. Spraggins
