Warrior Band Knighthood Challenge!
for intermediate (2nd-3rd year band students)

For the 2016-2017 school year, individual band awards, performance opportunities, and other incentives will be given based on the results of a new program called “The Warrior Band Knighthood Challenge”. This is a system of performance benchmarks (levels 1-5) that individual students must work through independently over the course of the year with the goal of rising from the lowest level of 1 to the highest level of 5.

Each level, or benchmark, comes with specific musical exercises that must be “conquered” in order for a student to complete the level and claim the designated awards. A student may not move to the next level until he or she has “conquered” the previous level. Students will be given the copies of the musical exercises for all five levels at the beginning of the semester, and special after-school practice sessions will be held to work on the exercises. However, it is the student's responsibility to work on these exercises independently from class.

Special “hearing” sessions will be held each week during which students my attempt to conquer the level they are currently working to master. Mr. Spraggins will award level mastery based on these hearings. A chart will be kept in the band room and on the website with up-to-date information on which students have achieved which levels. Students will be issued small leather ropes to tie to instruments or instrument cases and beads (specifically colored for each level) will be awarded to those who conquer a level so that they can be placed on the ropes and displayed on the instruments as a badge of honor.
